Main Purpose of the Job:
The Technical Project Manager is required to plan and oversee hardware and/or software development projects within and across teams in the CTO organisation with dependencies into the wider business.
The role is responsible for tracking task progress, managing risks, delivering identified objectives, and providing status reports to management, the Programme Management Office (PMO) and other stakeholders.
The Technical Project Manager will work closely with the relevant technical teams and the PMO to ensure the timely delivery of project milestones and the swift resolution of any issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with key stakeholders and the PMO to define project scopes, requirements, priorities, delivery timelines and cross business dependencies.
- Create a Work Breakdown Structure defining the activities required by each project and use as baselines for the development of detailed individual project plans and budgets.
- Identify, assess, and control risks by using a Risk Register to manage resolution and mitigation. Escalate if overall development objectives are potentially impacted.
- Ensure sufficient resources are allocated to the project and managed effectively to deliver its stated objectives and required outputs. Verify that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and understood.
- Manage detailed project schedules, work plans and action lists to guide delivery with relevant technical staff and inform key stakeholders of progress toward outcomes and objectives.
- Utilise industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout the whole project lifecycle.
- Create a positive and productive project team environment. Hold regular and ad hoc meetings with delivery teams, the PMO and key stakeholders as necessary.
- Evaluate project performance, processes, and methods to identify improvement areas and ensure outputs have the appropriate level of quality.
- Provide regular project status updates to management, the PMO and other stakeholders including progress, any required changes, budget reforecasts and new risks/issues requiring resolution.
Education and Experience:
- Over five years of project management and related experience.
- Either PRINCE 2 Practitioner or PMP certification preferred.
- Strong familiarity with project management tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Proven ability to complete projects according to cost, quality, and time.
- Experience working in a development organisation essential; Agile experience preferred.
- Degree in Computer Science or related field preferable.
